The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11, 2026. This year, 48 teams will play 104 matches at a variety of venues spread across 16 different cities in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Host cities in the US include Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New Jersey/New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seatle.

USA

Special air traffic procedures and TFRs will be applicable to airports servicing these 2026 FIFA World Cup host stadiums.

With distances between some host cities spanning thousands of miles (think Vancouver to Miami or Mexico City to Seattle), this World Cup is expected to be one of the most operationally demanding events in business aviation history.

The opening match features host nation Mexico vs South Africa at the renowned Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, with the full event running through the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in the New Jersey/New York area.

The sheer volume of matches will ensure 6 weeks of peak-level business aircraft traffic and a host of new rules and airport procedures that will greet the lucky portion of the visitors who fly private to watch the action on the pitch.

Reliever airports

Primary commercial hubs near stadiums will face traffic congestion and slot limitations, making reliever airports far better for private jet operators seeking availability, value, and quick venue access.

The preferred reliever for events around the Boston area is BED (Bedford MA). It hosts 3 full-service FBOs – Signature, Atlantic, and Jet Aviation. This airport is about a 30-minute drive from Gillette Stadium, which will host 7 World Cup matches.

MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford NJ is just 15 minutes from TEB (Teterboro NJ), where Signature, Atlantic, and Jet Aviation expect to handle a large volume of private aircraft flights during the event.

Signature Aviation TEB

Alternate relievers to TEB include MMU (Morristown NJ), with Signature and Atlantic Aviation on the field, and HPN (White Plains NY), where Signature, Million Air, and Atlantic Aviation all have world class facilities.

World Cup events hosted at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field turns to PNE (Northeast Philadelphia PA), with Atlantic Aviation and North Philadelphia Jet Center just 20 miles away from the 70,000 seat stadium that will host 6 matches.

In the Atlanta area, PDK (DeKalb–Peachtree, Atlanta GA) will relieve part of the bizjet traffic bringing spectators to the 8 matches that will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

PDK is home to Signature, Atlantic, and Aero Center Atlanta.

The 7 matches that will be played at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium will bring about extreme congestion at MIA (Intl, Miami FL).

OPF (Opa-locka FL), just minutes from Hard Rock Stadium, is the best alternative, with a large selection of luxury FBOs, including Signature, Atlantic, Fontainebleau, Jet Aviation, and Embassair.

Million Air ADS

ADS (Addison TX), located about 20 minutes north of downtown Dallas, is only a 30-minute drive away from AT&T Stadium, which will host 9 matches.

ADS will serve as an excellent reliever alternative to busier DAL (Love Field, Dallas TX). Main FBOs at ADS include Galaxy, Atlantic, and Million Air.

Houston’s NRG Stadium is close to HOU (Hobby, Houston TX), with Signature, Million Air, Galaxy FBO, Atlantic, and Wilson Air Center all available at the main gateway.

Both Signature and Atlantic Aviation are present at IAH (George Bush, Houston TX).

Access to Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium centers on MCI (Intl, Kansas City MO), with Signature Flight Support as the primary FBO.

Atlantic Aviation OPF

MKC (Wheeler Field, Kansas City MO) is the closest reliever – 20 miles from Arrowhead – with both Signature and Atlantic on site.

Easy access to SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles is available from VNY (Van Nuys CA), with Signature (East/West), Jet Aviation, Clay Lacy, and Castle & Cooke on site.

San Francisco Bay Area’s Levi’s Stadium will host 6 matches. SJC (San Jose CA) is only 15 minutes away from the venue. Signature and Atlantic Aviation are on the field.

OAK (Oakland CA) is 45 minutes north from the stadium. Both KaiserAir and Signature are ready to deliver full FBO services at this less congested reliever.

BFI (Boeing Field, Seattle WA) is only 6 miles from Lumen Field, with Signature, Modern Aviation, and Skyservice available.

FBOs ready for the surge

As the primary 2026 FIFA World Cup host nation, the US will see the most overall traffic, congested runways, reduced ramp and hangar availability, and potential slot limitations at host city airports and FBO facilities.

Castle & Cooke Aviation VNY

Signature Flight Support, which has 24 locations that will serve private aircraft traffic for the event, has published a detailed breakdown of its plan to ensure successful operations.

Its facilities will support customer movements for an incredible 174 different World Cup events.

In its 2026 FIFA Special Event Fees document, the company explains that it’s investing in additional staffing, coverage, security, and expanded guest spaces in order to maintain seamless operations and the exceptional level of service that its guests expect during high traffic events.

The document continues to say that special event fees help support these preparations, allowing the company to continue delivering world-class hospitality and care, even during the busiest times.

Single use fees cap at $47,632 for a wide body jet at EWR (Newark NJ).

Galaxy FBO HOU

Published fees include a wide variety of aircraft categories (narrow body, super heavy, light, and very light jets; heavy, medium, light turboprops; heavy and medium helicopters) and exclude airport concession fees.

Signature’s Vision account allows customers to manage special event reservations and receive real-time updates via its digital hub.

Signature continues, stating  that local operations teams are actively coordinating with airport authorities to plan for remote parking, potential runway or taxiway closures, Prior Permission Required (PPRs), and other operational needs.

At the network level, Signature is working closely with NBAA and FAA to raise awareness about anticipated traffic increases and any necessary  ATC programs.

Wilson Air Center HOU

Atlantic Aviation operates one of the largest FBO networks in North America, with more than 100 facilities across the US. It will support matches in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia.

FIFA 2026 advisories at all these locations call for increased traffic, ramp compression, and special event fees during match windows.

For up-to-date information on its FBO locations in host cities, Atlantic Aviation recommends operators log into Atlantic Gateway and run the trip pricing lookup tool for their specific dates/aircraft to see the actual event fees and available parking.

Pre-booking is required for all locations and events.

Be ready for special air traffic procedures

Skyservice BFI

Host city skies will be exceptionally busy during the tournament. FAA’s published Safety Plan for the 2026 FIFA World Cup states that pilots should be ready for  strict traffic management initiatives (TMIs).

During heavy demand periods, pilots should anticipate temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) in the airspace surrounding all event venues on match days.

Flight plans must be filed at least 6 hours – but not more than 24 hours – prior to the proposed time of departure.

And when a ground delay program is in effect, aircraft must depart within 5 minutes of their assigned expected departure clearance time.

Plan early to fully enjoy this 3-country celebration hosting 48 teams from all over the world with massive fan bases and diverse cultures.
