Mechanical Requirements

  1. Pro Pilot is perfect bound.

  2. Live area: on bleed ads keep essential matter 3/8'' from trim edge. If producing a spread ad allow a total of a 1/2'' space where text crosses the gutter. No gap required for photos or other artwork. Call for further details.

  3. A color proof is required for all ads.

  4. All color images must be set up as CMYK.

  5. We accept Macintosh OS X format of the following software: QuarkXpress 6.5, Adobe Photoshop 7.0 to CS2, Adobe Illustrator 9.0 to CS2, Adobe Acrobat 5.0 or higher.

2008 Editorial Schedule

  1. Include all graphics files: high resolution photos, logos, line art in EPS or TIFF at 300 dpi. Save all screen and printer fonts used: PostScript, True Type or Open Type. Do not use stylized fonts (i.e from style menu). Turn text into outline before saving Illustrator files.

  2. PDF files should be produced in Acrobat 5.0 or higher with all fonts embedded. Original artwork should be 300 dpi and CMYK from which PDF is made.

  3. Ads of less than 1 page may be provided as an EPS or TIF. Do not use Adobe Acrobat or provide artwork as a PDF.

  4. Ads are preferred on disk (CD ROM), by email if less than 3 MB, or call for instructions at 703-370-0606 to place ads on our FTP.
